Flagler Beach Fireworks Surfboard Drop
Flagler Beach Fireworks Surfboard Drop - A Great Way To Bring in 2025!
Flagler Beach Fireworks Surfboard Drop, is set to welcome 2024 with its inaugural New Year’s Eve celebration featuring a “Surfboard Drop” and fireworks display. The event will take place on December 31, 2024, starting at 8:00 PM in Veterans Park, located at 105 S. 2nd Street, Flagler Beach, FL 32136.
The highlight of the evening will be the lowering of an oversized, LED-lit surfboard from a fire truck in Veterans Park, mimicking the iconic Times Square ball drop. This unique twist reflects the city’s coastal culture and aims to establish a new tradition for residents and visitors.
Following the surfboard drop, a 12-minute fireworks display is scheduled to light up the sky at midnight, launched from the stable portion of the Flagler Beach pier. This marks the city’s first fireworks show since 2019, with a budget of $35,000 allocated for the event.
City Manager Dale Martin and Commission Chair Eric Cooley spearheaded the initiative, aiming to create a festive atmosphere that resonates with the community’s spirit. Local businesses, such as Tango Surfboards, are contributing to the event by crafting the illuminated surfboard, emphasizing the importance of local involvement.
The city commission unanimously approved the plan, viewing it as an opportunity to bring the community together and support local businesses during the holiday season. Safety measures will be in place, including the temporary closure of certain areas around the pier to ensure public safety during the fireworks display.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend this family-friendly event to ring in the New Year with a celebration that reflects the unique coastal culture of Flagler Beach.
